LEO STRAUSS AND THE CHRISTIAN TRADITION
Thursdays, 5:30-7:00PM (Note changed meeting time)
Begins February 13, Spring Term, sessions every 2 weeks unless noted otherwise

Through the writings of Leo Strauss, one of the most influential twentieth century political philosophers, this group explores the relationship between a modern ‘secular’ political philosophy and the Christian intellectual tradition. Commentary by Strauss’ interlocutors on political philosophy and religion will be considered as well. The last session will feature a guest lecture by a leading scholar on Strauss.
Reading materials for each session will be sent to registered participants beforehand. Light dinner provided.
Led by HCF Program Director Shani Agarwal Hood and HCF Graduate Fellow Reed Morgan.
This group will culminate in a special workshop led by Dr. Nathan Schlueter (Hillsdale College) on Saturday, March 29 at 11AM in the Boles Conference Room of the HCC. Co-presented with the Ratzinger Memorial Society. All undergraduates, graduate students, and young professionals welcome, even those not previously registered in the reading group.
